Families of Shortreed,
Well… I think I recall saying that January was a great month to get back into learning routines at school… and then we were hit with a power outage, extreme cold, 2 snow days, and an ice day!
Thank you so much for all your patience and support last week, as the school district had to make some difficult decisions to keep schools closed. We expected to return to school on Friday but were hit with some crazy freezing rain. When I arrived at school on Friday, the outside was an ice rink, and everywhere that the maintenance crew had worked hard to plow was now a sheet of ice. I do hope that your kids (and you) had a chance to have some fun in the snow, though!
With only two days in school last week, I never had a chance to go around to classes, so the “Good Things” portion will be out next week, and we will keep this newsletter really short.
Some reminders for this week:
- Gr. 5 basketball is Tuesday and Friday this week at 7:45. Our first game is next Monday, so it is really important to be at both practices this week.
- Dance sessions with Ms. Kaur are back! They will take place in her classroom this Friday at 7:45 in her classroom. This is open to any students in grades 2-5.
- The hot lunch for last Friday (Mary Brown’s Chicken) has been rescheduled for Wednesday of this week.
- Friday is another spirit day – Backwards Day! Wear anything backward on Friday, show some school spirit, and have some fun!
- Friday is PAC treat day, and we will also have an assembly in the afternoon.
- We will work on the Club Wednesday forms and have them out this week!
Have a great week!
